Monday...

American Gothic by Grant Wood done in 1930. The house was located in Iowa. The woman is the artist's sister and the man (holding a pitchfork in the original) is a dentist from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The woman is supposed to be the spinster daughter of the farmer and depicted what he thought was the look of Americana in that area...Yet many assume the two to be husband and wife...(a bit of wiki trivia).

This painting has been parodied so many times I gave it a go for myself. above. The alteration I like the most is below. LOL Cracks me up!

6 days to the start of the challenge at Thursday's Child's Blog.

  1. Haha, those pictures made me laugh inappropriately loudly. :) That's one of my favorite American paintings - it's at the Art Institute in Chicago!
